  • Vos Glass founded by Clarence “Jake” Vos. Partners include Barb Vos, John Merryweather and Nelson Veltman.
  • Vos Glass receives first noteworthy commission – renovation of the Trade Center (formerly Bishop Furniture building).
  • Vos Glass Original LocationTemporary space leased at 4275 Stafford SW. Business employs five, including Paul Vos, son of founder.

1983
  • Scribner LocationBusiness moves to 902 Scribner NW. Sixteen employees, include founder’s daughter, Linda Vos.

  • WestinghouseVos Glass awarded first major commercial project for Westinghouse Furniture Systems, now Knoll.

  • Automotive Division added to list of services. Linda Vos heads up division.

1985
  • Adjacent building at 910 Scribner (formerly Litcher Electric) is purchased to accommodate the expanding business.
  • Notable projects for the year include: Highpoint Center, Michigan Bulb Company and Prince Corporation.

1986
  • Notable projects include Davidson Plyforms and Trestlebridge III Office Complex.

1987
  • Gantos Glass and glazing for Gantos Headquarters completed.

1988
  • Staff grows to 25 employees. Vos completes work on Bretwood Office Building.

1989
  • Major renovation joins Vos Glass buildings at 902 and 910 Scribner. First Vos Glass showroom unveiled.
  • Foremost Notable projects include Foremost Corporation of America (shown), Foremost Insurance, Irwin Seating Company and Old Kent Bank’s Corporate Banking Center.

1990
  • Betz Work on Betz Industries completed.

1991
  • First class graduates from Ford Carlite Auto Glass Technicians School. Three Vos Glass employees complete this national program.
  • Linda Vos co-founds Michigan Glass Association, a chapter of the National Glass Association.
  • Butterworth Hospital Walkway completed.

1992
  • Eagle Crest Condominiums completed.

1993
  • Named Small Business Advertiser of the Year by The Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan, Inc.
  • First auto glass company in West Michigan with technicians certified by National Glass Association.
  • Bridgewater Multi-year project at Bridgewater Place completed.

1994
  • Notable projects completed this year include: S.J.Wisinski and Waters Circle.

1995
  • Drawform Butterworth South Pavilion, Butterworth Women & Children’s Center, Drawforms (shown), Steelcase Headquarters and Structural Concepts completed.

1996
  • Client list expands to include: Great Lakes, Haworth, Inc., Meridian and Morley-Stanwood Public Schools.

1997
  • Diverse list of projects includes: Godfrey Lee Public Schools, Spectrum Industries, Wolverine World Wide and Amway Grand Plaza Hotel lobby.

1998
  • East Paris Office Building and Kenowa Hills Public High School added to portfolio.

2000
  • Web site launched: www.vosglass.com.

2002
  • Named Business of the Year by The Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan, Inc. Receive Associated Builders and Contractors Award of Excellence for Park Christian Reformed Church.
  • Linda Vos-Graham Linda Vos-Graham named company President as Vos Glass celebrates 20 years.

2003
  • Jake Vos Clarence “Jake” Vos dies at age 70.





  • Vos First phase of office renovation completed. Staff grows to 50 employees.
  • Notable projects completed this year include: Grand Rapids Convention & Visitors Bureau and The Grand Rapids Press printing facility.

2004
  • Governor Granholm Linda Vos-Graham leads 10-year effort with Michigan Glass Association for legislation to ban insurance companies from restricting where customers go for auto glass repairs. Governor Granholm signs bill into law.


2005
  • Glass Resource Center Glass Resource Center opens at 902 Scribner creating a hands-on experiential showroom for Vos Glass clients.
  • GVSU Notable projects for 2005 include: Grand Valley State University’s Lake Ontario Hall (shown), Mainstreet Business Center, Mercantile Bank Headquarters and Resurrection Life Church.

2006
  • Accepted by the National Glass Association’s Business Accreditation Program. First glazing contractor in the state named part of this prestigious program.
  • Shum Accomplishments: Grand Rapids Public Schools – Alger Middle School, East Grand Rapids Community Center, Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital (shown), Michigan Electric Transmission Company Headquarters and St. Mary’s Outpatient Center.

2007
  • 25th Anniversary Vos Glass celebrates 25th Anniversary with 52 employees.
